My New Full-Time Job

So here we are, trying once more to toilet teach Eli. This time we are much more serious about it, I think, and I am already ready to give up. I'm not going to, yet, but this is driving me nuts. I still have no idea if he realizes when he needs to go to the bathroom, he knows after the fact, but who knows any more.
I had my first experience this evening getting peed on. Ah, the joys of motherhood. Hopefully we'll get this down before too long.

This is going to sound terrible, but truly, my least favorite thing about motherhood so far has been potty training!

I suggest trying the book that teaches it in one day. Jamie bought the book. I did much of the book except the potty themed party. Way too much. But we did buy a doll that pottied and Kate taught the doll which in turn trained her. I love that idea. Try it.

Say what you will. But with Ian... I gave up. Of course, I tried 3 different times. He really didn't get it- he just didn't understand his body. Once he was a little older, it was cake. But he had to make the connections himself. I just couldn't help him learn that. Good luck with Eli. Just remember that it's a process.

I agree with Charity. I tried and tried with Cullan. Then our pediatricain told us that boys are a little bit slower and that it would be closer to three when he might get it. Sure enought right around three he asked for underwear and it has been smooth ever since.

Oh dear, sounds like way too much fun; more fun than I want for sure. Good luck and let me know what you figure out. :) We got Hallie a potty and we're letting her get use to the idea for a few weeks.... but I don't know if we're really ready. I think I'll see how it goes for you and then decide! :)

UGH... I think I've blocked the whole "Potty Training Process" out of my memory completely! I honestly cannot for the life of me remember ANYTHING about that time with Ollie or Eden. Wow... I don't even want to think about it... it will be upon me all too quickly with Jaren!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!
