First day of School!

Here is Eli yesterday on the First day of PreKingergarten. He is going to Elk Run PreK Mon, Tues, Thurs. and Friday in the mornings. He loves it! He has already taught me a song about 3 blue pigeons. Josh misses Eli terribly and constantly tells me, "Mom, I want Eli." I just have to remind him that we will pick Eli up at 11:30am.

I do understand why some people home school better now. I have been quite nervous realizing that I am putting my son into a strangers care for several hours each day. (I didn't cry, but I was a bit of a wreck.) However, Eli's teachers seem nice, if not a little scatterbrained, and I met and talked to the new principal at the school, and she was very nice and reassuring. She even gave me her cell phone number. Hoo-rah!

Biking

We had been using a bike seat given to us when we went on bike rides. But with Melissa's new bike, it just didn't fit very well. Also, Eli could only go so far on his bike without getting tired. In order to start taking longer bike rides we found a great deal for a bike trailer on Craigslist. Now we have it, and we love it! Here are some pictures.

Adjustment

I realized this afternoon in church that I haven't had the best attitude lately. The culmination was Saturday, the boys were awful from the moment they got up. Crying, screaming, throwing food on the floor! They were exhausted and BOTH took a 3 hour nap.

Today in church we got to sing All Creatures of My God and King for our opening hymn. That song is one of my favorites. The ward really Sang the song, and it was so positive and uplifting that it reminded me that I need to be better.

So, I may be a little goofy when you see me next, but I am going to do my best to really be HAPPY each day. I may have to force it at times, but I have experience in my own life knowing that if I act happy, then I will be happy.

Bring on the attitude adjustment!

Colored

My hair has been starting to bother me. Almost long enough to put in a pony tail, but still too short to really put it up. I knew I didn't want to cut it again, because I am trying to grow it out. So my solution was to color my hair. Shannon did it for me Saturday, it is only a small difference, but I'm a little more golden blond, and I like it!

Field of Dreams

Last weekend we had family visiting and Saturday morning we all drove out to Dyersville, Iowa home of the Field of Dreams site. Friday night we watched the movie and it was fun to go see the place for ourselves. I am always surprised at how far it is between bases. Definitely got a renewed respect for baseball players!

Rodeo 2

Friday night we went to the Double D Rodeo. We had a great time and have decided to make it a yearly tradition. It started off with the Woolly Bully, little kids trying to stay on sheep. Eli wanted to do it, but we told him he had to wait at least one more year. I'm not sure if he will ever do it. :)

Josh loved dancing to the music and jumping off the bleachers. We quickly moved from the top row to the bottom row to keep our kids alive.

At one point they had all the kids come out to try and get tape off the back of a sheep. Eli fell down on his way out there, but got up again. The Rodeo Clown had all the kids line up, and at that point Eli freak out and started running to the back looking for us. I went over to him and helped him over the fence. I wish one of us had gone in with him, but maybe he'll want to try it again next year.

We were crazy and stayed to the very end when they had the bull-riding. It was really a lot of fun. I wish a knew a little more about the rules and points, but we had a great time!

Bull-riding. Not a great video, but I hope you can see it.

Fun Story Time

I forgot about this picture until I found it today. A couple of weeks ago we went to a special story time at the Library. Dad Wardell was there from Iowa Public TV. He did a presentation to the kids and gave them all a beach ball. He asked them to take it with them and take a picture with it and send the picture to him. As soon as Eli got home he wanted to have his picture taken with the beach ball. I had to comply, although I didn't send it in.

Thank you Notes

Today Eli and I were writing Thank you notes to family for sending birthday cards. After I got them ready to mail Eli wanted to write Josh a thank you card too. We made a real one, but I loved what he had to say, so I am sharing the words with you.

Dear Josh,

I hope you have a great day and have a birthday. Thank you for the games because I really appreciate you for having a great Marlin game. Thank you for everything that's Josh that you do. Thank you that you can be a great daddy that you can teach things. I appreciate you and I want you to grow up and be a missionary and teach people the Spirit of the Holy Ghost.

Thank you for everything. Have a great day. Bye
