Driving through Germany was beautiful, and different than America. We didn't really see any 'new devleopment' housing. It seems like the towns just stay the size that they always have been.
We saw the ruins of Roman baths.
A maze within a maze.
More big cathedrals.
And Porta Nigra - the black gate.
If you are a student you can get a Roman Centurion to give you a tour of the gate.

Europe Part 5 - Frankenstein Castle and Kaiserslautern
Morgan served his mission in the Frankfurt area. So we stopped by the church in Kaiserslautern and a castle ruin in the city of Frankenstein because those were places he had been as a missionary.
Hiking up to the ruins.
In Kaiserslautern
Seeing people from the past.
This is the apartment building where Morgan lived.
He was in the attack rooms - so the windows on the roof - that was where he lived.

Europe Part 4 - Heidelberg
Heidelberg was a lot of fun. Amazing churches like the one below!
A Pieta.
The Heidelberg Castle
Morgans friends from Germany, the Flades.
The biggest Wine Barrel.
A view of the castle from the Old Bridge.
Germany has WONDERFUL road and street signs. We just couldn't pass up taking a photo of this one.

Europe Part 3
There are so many rivers and beautiful fields in Germany. This waterfall is called Lechfalls. The gorge that it runs through is beautiful.
On our way north we stopped in the city Pforzheim Germany. Lindsay had an aunt whose family lived there during War War II.
After we got settled in Heidelberg we drove to Ladenburg to see some of Scott's friends from work. We had a wonderful dinner with them.
They took us on a tour of the town.
This is the first Car Garage.
And a replica of the first automobile, built by Carl Benz.
One of the cool things about the city was that they had a 3D city map with braille underneath the street names. Very Cool!

Europe Part 2
In Austria we found about a cool suspension bridge called Highline 179. It holds the world record for the longest Tibetan style footbridge.
Near the bridge are some cool castle ruins called Ehrenberg.
This bridge is right outside of Musau, Austria. Everything we saw in that country was beautiful, and I would have loved to stay longer, and would LOVE to go back.
Europe Part 1
In June Morgan and I went to Europe. We had been hoping and planning this trip for many years, and it all finally came together. We were also lucky to travel with our friends Scott and Lindsay.
We flew in to Amsterdam, Netherlands and straightaway took a train to Munich, Germany. The next morning we went to Dachau Concentration Camp and then drove to Musau Austria. While we were in Austria we saw the Hohenschawngau and Neuschwanstein Catles (in Germany.)
I am glad that we visited the Concentration Camp. I think it is something that everyone should do once. That said, I have no desire to see another one for a LONG LONG time. It was a sorrowful, somber place.
While driving back to our room one evening in Austria, I saw a waterfall on the mountain. Scott was able to find a road that led to it. We had a fun little hike through the woods, to the waterfall and beyond. We saw some deer and little lizard things. (It wasn't a lizard, but I don't remember the name.)
You can see Neuschwanstein from Hohenshwangau.
We took a tour of both castles. They don't allow pictures to be taken inside, so you have to deal with the exterior shots.
After seeing Neuschwanstein we hiked above it to "Mary's Bridge." Then we continued even higher up the mountain to get a great shot from above.
